Workday’s Adaptive Planning solution was a major focus at Pulse London, bringing several important updates for organisations already using the platform. As a Workday partner, ICit has been tracking the changes closely – here’s what you need to know.
Adaptive from Workday – A Standalone Business Unit, a First for Workday
Adaptive from Workday is now a standalone business unit inside Workday, the first of its kind in the company’s history. One leadership team now runs product, sales, marketing, customer success and deployment together, backed by more than 600 staff dedicated solely to this product and its customers.
In practice, that’s start-up speed paired with Fortune 500 resources – a structure designed to move faster on roadmap and support, without losing the scale and stability that enterprise customers depend on.
The Big News: A New Name
“Workday Adaptive Planning” is being renamed to “Adaptive from Workday.” London got the preview; the official reveal landed at Pulse New York.
To be clear on what this does and doesn’t mean: nothing changes under the hood. Same platform, same security, same trust model. It’s simply a name that finally matches the ambition behind the product.
“Every planning solution is built to create the numbers in the plan but not built to facilitate the conversations
that ultimately help you decide how to allocate capital.”
Ben Pierce, GM Adaptive.
What’s Actually Shipping
Beyond the name, there’s real product news to back up that ambition:
- Planning hubs – live now
- Advanced workflows – live now
- Shared scenarios – live now
- Native integrations with Slack, Teams, Google Workspace and Office Connect – live now
- Adaptive Data Foundation – live now
- AI and Decision Intelligence – embedded throughout the platform
The AI story is moving quickly: over 50 customers were live with Decision Intelligence before its juli general availability, and 30 more have signed on in just the last week.
The Scale Behind the Story
The numbers underline why this rebrand matters: 7,000 customers worldwide, 1,000 of them in EMEA, spanning organisations like XPO Logistics, Freshfields LLP, Utilita and Decathlon.
XPO Logistics took the stage in London to share their own Adaptive story – a good reminder that the biggest wins come from how you use the platform, not just what’s in it.
