What’s also compounding the issue is a new accounting standard called IFRS 15 which needs to implemented by Jan 1st 2018 for all contracts not completed by this date.

As you can imagine, being a CIMA qualified accountant I am no stranger to the budgeting and forecast process. Balancing the day job with the budgeting and forecasting cycles is an onerous task at the best of times. Whilst there is inevitably a lot of number crunching, debate and negotiation to be had, the ultimate challenge is the human factor. How do you persuade you non-finance colleagues to participate in the process for the good of the company? Whilst there is no silver bullet, there are certainly better ways to facilitate the process with better communication, better systems and better integration across functions to support collaboration.
